here is my critics of this album:
if some people with good english can translate this to chinese, that would be great, thanks ^^
this time, jacky did not compromise to make typical hong kong karaoke-type easy-listening love songs, he chose to go with his own ways: making music with his heart, and not for the market. that needs a lot of courage, especially with all the fame behind him, taking such leaps is risky, and is therefore really respectful. since these songs are not those typical karaoke songs that only need to be listened once or twice before knowing how to sing it, you will need to spend more time listening to this album before getting used to it---in other words, this album lasts. it won't make you only listen to it for one day and then you don't want to touch it anymore. but since jacky totally walked away from the typical karaoke songs, you will need some patience before liking the songs in the album. the songs will sound strange to you at first, but then it grows on you, it gets better and better as you listen to it more, which is the exact opposite of karaoke songs. my favorite songs in the album is 想劈酒(if you like jacky singing rock songs, this is it, it gets sooo good after listening to it for a few times, and is now my most-listened song in this album), and 給朋友(the singing part is standing at the passed-away friends' viewpoints to tell us not to be sad, and the dialog part is jacky himself speaking words of his heart to his passed-away friends. according to an interview, a well-known close friend just passed away when he was recording the singing of that song(it could be anita mui), therefore that crying emotion recorded in the song was true and real, not fake and pretended, and therefore makes the song so emotion-blowing and shocking). i also recommend 慢條斯理, a really nice blend of jazz and rock; the title-song "Life is Like a Dream", a relaxed song that is similar to sam hui's style; and how can we forget the beautiful melody and songbird singing of the hit song 講妳知! |
